Southwest Michigan Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals

Escape down the beautiful Paw Paw River in St. Joseph/Benton Harbor,
or paddle Lake Michigan from New Buffalo’s incredible beach

Ready for a fun day on the water your friends and family will never forget? Rent kayaks or paddleboards on the Paw Paw River in St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, or explore Lake Michigan from New Buffalo Beach in Harbor Country! It’s a great way for all ages — kids and families included — to get active and explore some of Southwest Michigan’s best outdoor attractions.

Choose from the following rental equipment:

  • Kayaks – available in both one- or two-person configurations with a stable, “sit-on-top” style for comfort; $20 per hour for one-person kayak, $25 per hour for two-person kayak.
  • Stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) – oversized, beginner-friendly boards used with long, canoe-like paddles; $20 per hour.

Ideal for any age or skill level, both kayaks and stand-up paddleboards allow paddlers to explore any body of water at their own pace. Our trained staff will give your group an orientation before you hit the water.

All equipment, including paddles and lifejackets, is provided at the rental sites. Reservations for groups of less than 20 are not necessary or accepted – just show up, and you’ll be on your way! For groups of 20 or more, please request a quick quote to set up a reservation. We can handle very large groups – up to 70 people! Get more info on large group outings here.

Choose from our two rental sites:

  • Paw Paw River – located just minutes from downtown St. Joseph and the Benton Harbor Arts District, you can explore beautiful wetlands and paddle through Harbor Shores Resort, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.
  • New Buffalo City Beach – discover Lake Michigan from the water on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard at one of Harbor Country’s best beaches.
