New Buffalo and Warren Dunes are about 1 hour from Chicago and 45 minutes from South Bend, right at the Indiana–Michigan border. Both New Buffalo and St. Joseph are served by Amtrak’s Wolverine line, with direct service from Chicago. New Buffalo’s station is walkable to town, beaches, and lodging. St. Joseph’s station is near downtown and Silver Beach. Warren Dunes visitors can hop off in New Buffalo — it’s just a short drive to the park from there.
